I am originally from Timmins, Ontario and came to Ottawa to study. I am a very active person and love to do physical activities such as pole, step class, cardio etc. My job is also physically exerting; this past summer I did helicopter-based mapping south of Hudson Bay in remote locations.

Candace

Candace has always loved dancing, and has some experience in Jazz, tango and burlesque. She started pole roughly 3 years ago, but unfortunately had to take a year off and has just started back up again. She also hates writing about herself in the third person.

Carine

Carine started pole dancing a little over two years ago and joined the Ottawa Pole Fitness family in March 2010. Since her very first spin, she was hooked, literally. Between pole practices, she works as a translator and is also pursuing a Masters in translation at the University of Ottawa.

Jane

Jane fell in love with pole fitness after taking an introductory class in 2010. Since then she has been taking classes on and off at Ottawa Pole Fitness. Jane believes pole fitness is something every woman should try. She describes it as the feeling you get as a child on a merry-go-round. There is nothing more satisfying then mastering a new pole move.

Janyque

Mother of 2 wonderful children, I am a very active person. I have been enjoying pole fitness since 2010 and wish to continue practicing this fun sport.

Josée

I like arts and culture. I did a Bachelor Degree in film animation and now I'm working in administration for the Federal Government. I started taking different types of dance classes eleven years ago, mostly ballet and modern. I did one year in the bachelor degree in contemporary dance at Université du Quebéc à Montréal. I started pole dancing classes 2 and a half years ago. I love to come to practice with my friends at the studio and meet pole dance professionals in workshops and meeting new people.

Katie

I first started pole dancing in January 2011 and loved it from the beginning. On the first day of level 3 I hurt my back and had to take 2 months off. Normally, this would deter me from going back but I missed it. I like how much my strength and flexibility has improved so much in the past year. I'm happy I went back to pole dancing so I can compete in this competition.

Laura

I have been pole dancing for a year and a bit now and have never been so in love with any sport! I love the grace, art, strength and challenges involved in pole dancing. I'm looking forward to creating my routine as well as seeing what everyone else has come up with!

Lindsay

I have been pole dancing for 9 months and I love it, it's a great way to have fun and challenge yourself while working your muscles. I recently finished my Masters in Fire Safety Engineering at Carleton and I am now working as a fire scientist. My hobbies include watching movies, gardening and home renovations.

Liz

I've always loved sports and being physically active. When I tried pole class a bit over a year ago, I instantly fell in love with how challenging it was. I admire the strength, stamina and flexibility it requires, as well as how fun it is at the same time.

Rebecca

Haven't had much luck being motivated to go to the gym or continue dance after high school, Rebecca has found her experience calling with pole fitness. She's been pole addicted since early 2009. No matter what season of the year, no matter how bruised her legs get, pole fitness will be her passion. She has also recently take up aerial hoop and silks, making it a goal to at least attend a Cirque du Soleil audition one day.

Tamara

I am a fourth year Carleton University student at the moment. When I'm not bogged down with school work I enjoy creating art, doing photography around Ottawa, and of course, pole fitness. I took my first pole class in February 2011, and was instantly hooked! I love the challenge of learning new moves and improving on the ones I know, and I'm looking forward to progressing to new heights in the future!
